The best Spanish wine in China´s 100 Wine Trophy competition
Finca La Emperatriz, Terruño 2011, has been awarded “Best Spanish wine” in the 100 Wine Trophy competition held in China.
It is a professional event created in 2012, with the participation of wines from 18 countries and 76 classic demarcations. Its aim is to distinguish the highest quality with special attention to the Chinese market. The influence and credibility of the competition is unquestionable, thanks to the process of blind tasting through which the decisions of the jury are obtained.
The jury is composed of several Masters of Wine and specialists from China and the rest of the world, ensuring the results meet the quality standards internationally,
About 800 samples have been submitted to the 2016 edition of Wine 100 Trophy, which will be awarded prizes for various categories. There are 17 awards to the best wines of its category. This is the case for the award obtained by Finca La Emperatriz Terruño 2011, which has won the award for best Spanish wine.
Finca La Emperatriz Terruño was the first signature wine cellar of the brothers Eduardo and Victor Hernáiz. This is a 100% Tempranillo and the vineyard estate is located in the northwest corner of the DO Rioja. They are vines planted in 1997 and conducted in double Guyot trellised 2 meters high. Aged for 16 months in French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels, it is a wine which highlights with red fruit intensity typical of the variety, with hints of vanilla, minerals.
