Bodegas Torres are building a winery in Lleida on their farm in L’Aranyó, at the heart of Les Garrigues. It will be used to develop Purgatori, the only one of its wines under the DO Costers del Segre.
The winery will cover an area of 1,650 m2 and will be located in the historic grounds, ‘Mas de L’Aranyó’ del s. XVIII and owned by the Torres family since 1999. The new building will be built with materials to preserve the aesthetics of the original farmhouse. It will consist of two buildings of different heights in the form of an L. It will have small outbuildings, totaling 2,800 m2.
The project, recently approved by the Territorial Planning Commission of Lleida, also includes the landscaping of the outside patio and renovating, in a second phase, of historic buildings, which will be used for the production of oil and wine. The construction of the winery will begin in September and is expected to be completed in late summer 2017, in order to start the vinification of the fifth vintage of Purgatori. A Mediterranean-profile wine made from Garnacha, Carignan and Syrah from own vineyard.
