MUNDUS VINI Summer Tasting 2016
Thursday, 1 September 2016 sees the start of the four-day MUNDUS VINI summer tasting in Germany’s Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, during which 4,300 wines from 38 nations will be tasted and judged by an international jury.
A total of 150 international wine experts will arrive from 40 nations to attend the 19th Grand International Wine Award MUNDUS VINI and take a critical look at the best red, white and rosé, sparkling and liqueur wines and present the best of them with the highly coveted silver, gold and grand gold medals.
Most of the wines submitted for tasting are from Italy (1,000), followed by Germany (900), Spain (750), France and Portugal (350 respectively). As well as wines from Europe’s classic wine-growing areas, there are also submissions from overseas countries such as South Africa, Australia, Chile, the USA and Argentina. In recent years, the increase in wines from more exotic countries such as Thailand, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Taiwan at MUNDUS VINI has also created something of a stir.
Together with the MUNDUS VINI spring tasting at the end of February with 5,200 wines and the MUNDUS VINI BIOFACH, which takes place in early December in collaboration with the NürnbergMesse, the MUNDUS VINI 2016 will, for the first time, see more than 10,000 wines from all over the world being tasted and judged.
MUNDUS VINI was founded 15 years ago by the Meininger Verlag, and from the beginning has been one of the most important wine competitions in the world.
