Jean Leon opens a new line of experimental wines
Jean Leon opens a new line of experimental wines with the launch of X-15. It will be the first wine the Penedès cellar has made with the native grape xarel·lo. It is limited edition, with a production of only 6000 bottles. X-15 hits the market as homage to the Penedès wine region that has allowed Jean Leon to fulfil his dream.
Mireia Torres, director of Jean Leon, along with the winemaker Xavier Rubires and the rest of the team have developed this exclusive organic wine from vineyards 25 or 30 years old, located at 225 meters, carefully selected and harvested by hand. The wine is made in stainless steel with aging on its lees for 4 months.
x-15
X-15, bright greenish and yellow in colour. Clear flavours of citrus, fennel and anise, on a background of white flower. The palate has a fresh entrance and a thin, elegant acidity, which accompanies all the way. Presents a soft, lingering finish, noted for its smoothness, the result of work on the lees.
The line of experimental wines of Jean Leon, launching with X-15, is aimed at the restoration and gourmet shop, and also Jean Leon´s wine club. The new wine will debut on Saturday, June 18, in the eighth edition of the ‘Nit dels Xarel·los’, to be held in Claustre Sant Francesc de Vilafranca del Penedès
