Six bottles of Vosne-Romanee ‘Les Gaudichots’ 1926 sold for almost 63,000€, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti are still really attractive for collectors
This shows that the wines from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti are still really attractive for collectors. This occurred at the last auction held by Sotheby’s in London, as recorded by the the drinks business magazine.
The auction is mainly focused on wines from this winery, Romanee-Conti specifically in 1990, La Tache and Richebourg.
The total amount spent at the auction came to 1.4 million euros and almost 90% of all lots presented in the auction were sold.
These six bottles of ‘Les Gaudichots’ 1926 were sold to a buyer in the United States for £49,350 (about 63,000 euros).
It is very rare to see RDC premier cru for sale. It also has the added rarity that the label ceased production in the 30s. It’s after the change of ownership of the winery.
The highlights other than DRC wines in this auction were lots of Haut-Brion 1989. La Mission Haut-Brion and Lafite Petrus 2000 and 1994.
Surely these bottles are a clear example of very rare and special wines that collectors are looking for.
DRC are still some of the most codious wines.
