Green marijuana-infused wine on sale in California for up to $400 for half a bottle
Winemakers in California are offering marijuana-infused wine for up to $400 a pop.
The tipples allows drinkers to get the effect of cannabis and alcohol all in one glass.
The new wine, which is known as Canna Vine, is only available in California because other states that have legalized marijuana – Colorado, Washington, and Oregon – have not allowed alcoholic beverages to be infused with cannabis.
The special beverage doesn’t come cheap. Just a half a bottle of the stuff will cost between $120 and $400.
But anyone wishing to purchase the tipple must have a prescription for medical marijuana.
It doesn’t appear there will be a problem in attracting celebrity endorsers.
Singer Melissa Etheridge and television host Chelsea Handler have already let it be known that they regularly consume the product.
‘You feel a little buzzed from the alcohol and then get a delicious full body buzz,’ Etheridge told CBS News two years ago when asked about the experience of tasting the wine.
Etheridge said that she has been a regular user of marijuana ever since she underwent chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer 12 years ago.
‘Once I considered it medicine, I became much more interested and have taken it into my lifestyle to keep stress down and keep my GI system level – it’s been messed up since chemo,’ she said.
In an interview with Bon Appetit, Handler stated that not only does she serve guests with marijuana-infused wine, but also mushroom soup infused with marijuana oil.
